This will be an attempt at a FAQ it was inspired by a letter from HL Andrea of Lancaster.  I will edit, amend and change as needed.

What makes this Event Different?

bulletThe Event and War Scenario is as the name infers. The general concept is to craft an event that approximates a Day and Night in a real medieval Campaign***.  This means that Combat (Single or Melee) may take place at any time day or night and in any location, except for designated Safe Haven or Sanctuaries.
Think of more like a modern day Wargame with a fake town with townspeople and everybody is part of it as opposed to sitting in the lawn chair and people watching.
bulletCamp Sites are NOT Sanctuaries or Safe Havens and may be captured. Fighting in and around Campsites will be governed by special rules.
bulletSafe Haven will be outside the combat area and Sanctuaries will be located in the Combat area.  Fighters leaving the combat area to go to safe haven will sign in and sign out. Total time spent in the combat area will count toward team totals.
bulletAll Participants caught unarmored or unprepared may be taken for Ransom or "Executed".   This does not apply to Event Staff and specially designated persons.
bulletThis Event Presents an opportunity for people to be in "High Persona" at all times if they so desire. Ransoms may be determined by Order of Precedence.
bulletTroops will Have "Booty" that may be "Looted" from their bodies or Taken from their Camps. This Booty may be used for Ransoms. Fighters may also bring Booty that they may add to their "Bank" and may be used for ransoms as well.
bulletWinners may be determined by a combination of Objectives held, Ransoms Collected, Body Counts and total amount of time spent in the combat area.

***  Or Renaissance, there is nothing here that says it could not be done in Rapier fighting style. Only not both. You gotta pick a genre and run with it with this event. It must remain focused.

Questions and Answers

bullet1. Has there been a date set as yet, or a particular time of year you are shooting for? I couldn't determine that from the information provided.

No. No time or Date has been planned. Due to the unusual nature of the event and the fact that it will be unlike anything done before (to my knowledge) This Site was setup to try and answer all these question before the nitty-gritty of actually doing the event takes place. Who knows? After all the talking is over and done with it may be that an event like this might not be feasible.

bullet2. >What roles do you foresee non-combatants would be able to have in this interesting event?
The event as originally discussed was really thought of as a fighter only type event.  Since the idea was to replicate a Day and night of a campaign. This would preclude the kinds of things that many people come to expect at an event. It is not an "all things to all people" type deal and if your not into fighting or martial related things than this is event that you should skip.

However
It quickly became apparent that non fighters would like to try and experience the event as well even if it meant dispensing with the usual trappings of an S.C.A Event. So practically speaking, non Combatants  will either be part of the staff or part of the scenario at some point with little or no in between. (Merchants being a notable exception.)  People will be needed to Marshal, be Water bearers, and Score keepers, First aid etc.  (Check-in/Check-outs for combats teams coming and going to and from the Safe havens.

bullet2a. >What about the concept of having different areas where teams can gain more booty, capture a non-com worth so many  points, etc. at a station manned by a non-com by answering a riddle or something? Or is that entirely too D&D? ;)

T
his is one of the things that were are trying to figure out. I like the Idea that non-coms can be pilgrims that must be guarded and are worth a Ransom Especially if Non-coms are weighted (Barons, Duchesses and Pelicans Etc, being worth XX amount of Gold/silver/Triskels/Dinars etc. I'm not so sure about the Riddle part as that is more for Quest type events. But it also would depend on the overall Event "theme" too.  There is a possiblity that the Camp could be split into 2 sides and if you wanted to visit you friends on the other side you could brave the roads and woods alone and hope for the best or travel in caravan with armed escort. Once again I think ite depends on the "Theme" for the event
Other Ideas (which could be done at "regular" Events) is a side quest where the populace of a Village holds a mini tourney to determine who will be that Village's Champion. Also the possibility of Betting completed with Bookies and odds makers. Another idea being a Bridge leading to a Safe haven that is guarded by Lone fighter "Lancelot style" who defends it against all comers (bear pit style). Throughout the event the number of fighters will Change and the "populace of the village can vote to decide who was the most Chivalrous defender of the Bridge. Other roles could be Gate Keepers, "Camp Followers", Caravans etc.

bullet3. > Would the "camps" be the actual encampments where people were staying?

T
hat was the original intent so in Short the answer is Yes! But reality rears its ugly head and not everyone will enjoy those circumstances. Hence the Concept of "Safe havens" Outside the Combat Zone and Sanctuaries in the Zone. I envision the Camping to be more of a "Primitive" style then the Typical bring the Rope bed, Portable Bar, and Xmas lights so common at events.

bullet4. >Would there be feast/court, etc.?

Not Really. At the End of the event there would be an Armistice and the Winners Acknowledged. As for Feast. Refer to 3. above Now that would not stop a merchant or group of merchants from setting up a Tavern or Inn. With the Safe haven Campsites actually filling the role of a medieval Village  But that’s as far as it goes. The event will be complicated enough trying to marshal the fighting and keeping score.
