This is the preliminary info file for the Heraldry list. In
it, you will find some of the things I am hoping to establish as standard procedure for
the list. In fact, I am hoping to kick off a discussion with those signing on initially,
to see which direction the list should go in. I have my thought, and I know many of you
have yours. I want to hear them. Welcome to the unofficial Listserver for the Trimarian
College of Arms. Your moderator is the Honorable Maredudd at Cynan. Please be kind to him
as he has a gentle heart and a simple soul (Or was that a simple mind:-). The
Disclaimer: This mailing list is not an official function of the Trimarian
College of Arms, The Kingdom of Trimaris, or the SCA, Inc.
The Host: This list is being provided by Trimaris.com. The server has proven to be mostly
reliable, but there have been a few unfortunate outages caused by events outside of the
sysop's control. Be assured, that if/when it happens again, the system will be up as soon
as possible with as little impact as possible to the list. And by the way, feel free to
send your appreciation to the sysop at <janos@trimaris.com>.
The Moderator: The Moderator for this list is Maredudd ap Cynan (mka
Eric C. Smith). furthermore, this list will be moderated on an otherwise passive basis.
Mind your Ps and Qs and follow the rules as listed below, and things will be fine. The
moderator will, as a matter of policy, give a warning for a posters first transgression. A
posters second transgression will warrant a sterner warning. Upon the third transgression,
the poster will be removed from the list with no recourse save to petition the moderator
to be returned to the list.
Scope: This list was originally envisioned as a place for the Heralds
of Trimaris (capital H when referring to the Kingdom and Shire officers) and heralds
of Trimaris (small h referring to all others interested in discussion of heraldry.) to
discuss anything heraldic, including but not limited to Kingdom Heraldic Policy, Name and
Device submission commentary, and Heraldic researches of any kind. Feel free to discuss
any topic (of a heraldic nature). If you are unsure of a topics appropriateness, you can
still submit it with a query as to the moderators opinion. Rest assured that the moderator
has abroad sense of what is appropriate and if you think it is appropriete to this list,
chances are good so does the moderator. Finally, the moderator is very forgiving and is
more than willing to start the transgression count over again, given sufficient time
between transgressions.
:
1) Stay on Topic. (See 'Scope' above.)
2) Use of Subject Tags is required. (i.e. [ILoI], [DEV], [NAME], [EVENT],

and the appropriate warnings will be given. If you are responding to a note without a
Subject Tag, please add a tag of you own. Failure to do so will be counted as a
transgression on your part. You can find a list of all tags currently in use below.
